Why were the emergency contacts not sent to Xero Payroll?

Xonboard collects the emergency contact details for your employee.

But, Xonboard is unable to create or update the emergency contacts for an employee within Xero Payroll.


Why?

This is a limitation in Xero's API, not an error/issue with Xonboard.

Xero has not enabled emergency contacts to be created or updated via the API.

Xero users & partners have been asking Xero to fix this since 2015, but unfortunately there has not been any progress.


The work around:

  • When an employee complete's their onboarding we send you an email notification
  • The email notification includes a direct link to:
    • The employees details in Xonboard
    • The employees details in Xero
  • This makes it easy for you to copy and paste the details between the two systems

What can you do to get this issue with Xero resolved?
