Introduction
There are some cases you may receive an error message upon sending a recently onboarded employee across to Xero.
Troubleshooting
Generally, this occurs when the Xero connection has dropped out. You can refresh the Xero connection by completing the following:
- Click the profile icon in the top-right hand corner of the page, then click Manage Xero connection.
- Click Connect to Xero.
- Follow the prompts to login in to Xero.
- Your organisation should already be selected in the authorisation drop-down menu. Hit Continue.
- Once redirected back to Xonboard, click View against the organisation name.
Once you've done this, try sending the employee across again.
If this doesn't work, another reason could be due to Xero's API validation on the Job details fields. This can cause errors when the employee's Tax Scale Type has been set to Foreign. The job details section can be found in the employee Finalise screen, above the the employees Summary section.
To get around the validation, leave everything but the mandatory fields (job title and employment basis) blank. Once done, save your changes and try sending the employee across. You'll need to manually enter their tax details into their employment record in Xero.
